Redefining Talent Acquisition for the World’s Largest Alternative Dispute Resolution Firm

Client Overview

JAMS is a dispute resolution organization based in California. Founded in 1979, they handle more than 18,000 cases each year. As the world’s largest alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider, they manage a highly diverse cross-border team of over 400 ADR professionals plus 200 associates, ADR systems design experts, and case managers for which they are constantly recruiting.

The Problem: Complicated Workflows, Lengthy Processes, and Lack of JD Integration with Existing Platforms

JAMS’ HR team recently switched to UKG Pro to manage their global workforce. Unfortunately, it did not have the job description management capabilities they required. In the past, they had spent a great deal of time drafting JDs and a lot of money working with a labor law attorney to ensure compliance.

Before JDXpert, when a new job was to be created, the requesting department would provide three bullet points from which they would generate the JD. Typically, those making the JDs were not necessarily experts in those areas, so the process would take a lot of time and require a lot of back and forth.

They also needed to establish consistency within their job families with respect to experience, skills, and education. Finally, their new system needed to integrate with their HRIS and ATS platforms to reduce complexity and gain consistency across their global ecosystem.

Solution

JAMS had a clear idea of what they were looking for, and of all the solutions considered, JDXpert was most aligned with their needs. JDXpert’s central database simplified JD creation, and the collaborative nature of the platform enabled multiple stakeholders to contribute simultaneously.

Features within JDXpert align with industry best practices in terms of SABA and other compliance concerns. As a result, JAMS was able to reduce dependence on its labor law attorney, further reducing costs and time spent on the process.

Another feature of JDXpert that JAMS loves is that it helps them align their JDs with their DE&I practice. JDXpert’s debiasing and compensation benchmarking features allow them to produce accurate job descriptions that appeal to a broader talent pool, thus improving their ability to attract new talent.

Success

Currently, JAMS is still in the process of transitioning JD workflows to JDXpert. However, as they integrate, the time savings is significant. A task that would typically take five minutes now takes about 90 seconds; from there, it’s automatically sent to the next team member and finished in record time. Employees love the new workflows and find that it simplifies and streamlines tasks they already do, helping them accomplish significantly more in less time.

Managers now feel equipped to review job descriptions and revise them accordingly. They have successfully begun to remove silos between departments and are looking forward to getting their managers more involved as they continue to integrate JDXpert across their global enterprise.

From the Client

Our shift to JDXpert has provided us with a fresh, visually-appealing approach to job description management and consistency in our drafting process.”
